As the years took their toll on these old cars, some, instead of being rebuilt for Passenger Service, were converted to Maintenance of Way cars for the B&B Gang, (Bridge & Building), and to be used in work trains that might end up stuck out on the line for days. #053 was one of these. You see her here as she looked throughout the forties and fifties. She served a dual purpose: As a place for tired crews to get some rest, and as a rolling "cafeteria".

Jimmy weathered several of these for a number of our friends. Perhaps you were on the receiving end of one of them? But if not, the thought of an "053" in a Work Train consist might just prove irresistible. There weren't near enough of them to around the first time. This could be you chance.

#053 will be available as a thirties ( Boxcar Red ) car, and as the 1940's on Gray car you see. Neither version will be lighted.
