The quintessential Narrow Gauge Train ? The "Chili Line" ran between Alamosa Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Its name was derived from the "Chile Ristras" which could be seen hanging from the eaves of many of the houses along the way each fall as the inhabitants would hang them out to dry. At best it was a "Mixed Train Daily", with whatever revenue cars were required making up the "head end" while its Conductor rode in the comfort of the rearmost coach which was outfitted with "Bay Windows" on both sides so he could keep a watch on his train.. In it's heyday, there were actually 3 Passenger train "sets" assigned to the Chili Line.. "One coming, One Going, and one in the works." as one old timer put it. As was most often the case on The Narrow Gauge", no two Postal / Baggage cars were exactly alike, and so, as it should be, all three we produced are "individuals". The kind of stuff you've come to expect from P-B-L, right? |

On the other hand, maybe this is the Quintessential Narrow Gauge Train? Kinda depends on who's opinion you ask. But the above photo is kinda hard to resist, isn't it? It kind of "tells it like it is" doesn't it? We captured this shot down our driveway about a hundred yards from the house on a hillside of what's known as "fractured clay". This stuff looks, for all the world, like real rock, doesn't it? Click Here, or on the photo above for a close-up look at one of the Orange Coaches, from the train most folks relate to best. Even if these garish cars are not your cup of tea, you owe it to yourself to at least have a look at the LETTERING SAMPLES on this page. Cool stuff here, without doubt! And we've captured a BUNCH of photos of them for you to peruse! CLICK ON ANY OF THE ICONS BELOW FOR ENLARGED VIEWS ! These are "SLIDE SHOWS", and in order to display properly, YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE PAGE TO LOAD COMPLETELY !
So please come back again if you want to see them all. Meantime, though this has been posted before, we thought you might enjoy looking at what a "tray of models" looks like !
The models in this tray represent YEARS of research and development. Click on the photo for an enlarged view.

(Depending on the speed of your connection, this may take a little time.)
In conclusion, yes, the models have been postponed. But the whole gamut of
Pilot Sample Models is due here in April. After they arrive the clock will
start ticking. It will only take 2 -3 months and the production run will be
here!

The painted models seen on this page were all from our 2000 production run. All unpainted brass models are PILOT / SAMPLE MODELS from our upcoming 2008 production run. The majority of these have some corrections yet to be applied. Factory Painted Pre-Production Samples are scheduled to be shown at the 2008 Narrow Gauge Convention in September. The production models are scheduled to arrive before the holidays. Interiors will include the proper Coal Stoves, and Bathrooms with Fixtures ! And of course, the Coaches and Combines will have interior lighting ! Genuine Kadee Couplers will be factory installed also, with superb factory painting topping them off. ( And yes, the roofs will be painted FLAT BLACK. ) Expect the new cars to have the best rolling passenger car trucks ever to grace a run of brass models. We can say this with confidence because we have never received models from Boo Rim that have been anything less than absolutely stellar in the free rolling department! If you're one of the fortunate few who got one of the Rotary "OY" outfits, you already know this is so ! At last we have a Builder who actually understands that there are guys out there who actually want to RUN this stuff ! Isn't it great? |
