TENTATIVE DELIVERY: LATE SPRING - 2006 !

This photo was taken of one of the year 2000 production Pilot Models, before we
decided to add the interior pieces to the production cars, which is why no
seats are showing in the windows. . . But the paint job was outstanding and we
thought you might like to have a look at it, in spite of the missing seats.
When we first decided to create the Silverton Sets in Orange, we thought it would be fairly easy. Same cars, different paint scheme. But little did we know that we would have a formidable task ahead of us: You see, there was no LETTERING available for these cars that really captured the "look and feel" of this train! Others in the past have tried to get it "right", but nothing we could find seemed to even came close! So, sticklers for detail that we are, we ended up having to create this stuff all from scratch... But as you can see from the model above, and the lettering sample below, the end results are absolutely stellar!
[ Above is a Sample of the lettering we created especially for this model run. We'll let you do the research to see whether we "done good" or not....] Even though "The Silverton Train" in these colors was sort of a "Johnny-come-lately" on the Narrow Gauge scene, it was definitely the "stuff" that "The Narrow Gauge" was all about. The Narrow Gauge may have lacked the colorful "Billboard Cars" of it's "broad gauge" cousins, but nary a one of the latter could ever come close to matching the outright charm and appeal of the diminutive equipment seen on a daily basis around such famous towns as Durango and Silverton, let alone Chama, Alamosa, and Salida. The astute observer will be quick to note that the cars in our Silverton Train have double black stripes down the length of their car sides... Though the cars plying the rails of the now "Durango and Silverton" have only one stripe per car side, the above is correct for the era our cars are painted to replicate. (Circa 1951.) Note also that although the interior seating doesn't show in this photo, ( This is because it's a painting sample. ), the production models had our injection molded floors inside them, festooned with a full compliment of the appropriate Grandt Line Seats and injection molded bathroom partitions. |
