This scene of Vance Junction is amazing. Were a guy to get creative in
Photoshop and drop out the lighting valance, replacing it with a sky backdrop,
the average viewer could be fooled into thinking this was the real thing!
Joel says he has no idea how many trees are visible in this photo, but that there are over 3000 of 'em to be seen on the entire layout! ! ! I can't vouch for Vance, having never been there in person, but Blue Spruce and White Fir were the dominant species around Chama's high country, and it sure looks like they are here in Joel's scene too, doesn't it? This is another very shallow scene, measuring only about 18" at the most, front to back. Yet when a guy is standing there looking at it, because it's pretty much at eye level and there are all those trees as a backdrop, there's nothing that there that would give away its depth. It just looks "high country real" ! |
